Here are the poems from Jack Prelutsky’s book, “The New Kid on the Block” that were used for 5th grade music compositions. Students wrote rhythms for the words of the poem, added melodies on the xylophones, and added non-pitched percussion instruments.

Here are some poems from the Jack Prelutsky book “It’s Raining Pigs and Noodles.” Fifth grade students used these poems to create original compositions, creating all of the rhythms, the melody and adding other non-pitched percussion instruments!
